OBJECTIVE: This is a one semester course in College Algebra. The prerequisite for this course is Math 120, or an appropriate score on the math placement test. We will be using graphing calculators extensively in this course. If you don't have a graphing calculator I would strongly advise you to purchase one. There are many different types and brands available, we usually recommend the TI-83 Plus or TI-84 graphing calculator. This course along with Math 25 Trigonometry, are the prerequisites for Calculus I.

HOMEWORK: Homework will be assigned every class meeting and is due two days later (You have two days to complete the assignment). LATE HOMEWORK WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!!! If you can't get the assignment in on time make sure that you know the material because you will still be held responsible for the information. Click here to see the homework assignment sheet for the 7th edition. If you are using the 8th edition use the following link: Click here for the 8th edition homework assignment sheet.

QUIZZES: There will be several quizzes given during the semester. The quiz questions will usually cover material given in the homework. MAKE-UP QUIZZES WILL NOT BE GIVEN.

TESTS: There will be three 100 point exams given over the semester, as well as a 100 point comprehensive final exam. MAKE-UP TESTS WILL NOT BE GIVEN unless you notify me in advance.

ATTENDANCE: One of the most important things that you can do to succeed in this course is to attend every class meeting. It is the policy of the math department to drop students for excessive absences. This means that if you miss more than five class meetings you may be dropped from the course. If you have to miss class, make prior arrangements to turn in your homework, as well as to get any notes or materials covered that day.

CELL PHONE USE:   Cell phone use in class is prohibited. If you are expecting an emergency call, please set your phone on silent/vibrate mode. If you need to use your phone, please do so outside of class.

Math 52:MATH LAB: You can sign up for Math 52 (0.5 or 1 unit) to receive tutoring or study for exams in the Math Lab (located in the Academic Support Center in the new library).
