Inverse Function Examples

Here are some algebraic examples of inverse functions. For each pair, each function is the inverse of the other. Compose them to verify for yourself that f(g(x)) = x and g(f(x))=x.

Original Function
f(x)
Inverse Function
g(x)
f(x) = 2x g(x) = x/2
f(x) = x - 5 g(x) = x + 5
f(x) = 3x - 1 g(x) = (x+1)/3
